7 card hi-lo poker - What makes
a winner?
The most significant differences between
Hi-Lo and standard high-only Poker arise from the additional
dimension created by the division of the pot between
a high winner and a low winner. In fact, this creates
at least three very different games, depending on the
rules of play. These will be discussed later.
Whether you win all, half or none of the pot depends,
however, upon more than your cards; it depends also
on the method for determining how hands are to be evaluated.
The primary distinction is between whether the cards
alone determine the winner or whether players must declare
how they want to have their hands considered –
high or low.
If declaration is required, it may be either simultaneous
or sequential. In each of these cases, strategy varies
and as such, it will be necessary to treat each set
